“FIFA 23” found a hit series: in the latest version of the football video game, gamers can now hire “Ted Lasso” as a coach.

The fictional football coach “Ted Lasso” from the comedy series of the same name will appear as a character in the most important football game “FIFA”. The features of the successful show on Apple TV + will be playable in “FIFA 23”, game publisher Electronic Arts said on Wednesday (local time). The series tells the story of a US soccer coach who turns around an unsuccessful soccer club in England. The character is portrayed by Jason Sudeikis.

Last week, Ted Lasso won the Emmy for Best Comedy Show for the second year in a row. The series received eleven Emmys in total. This makes the series a remarkable success for Apple as it tries to create its own video streaming service and compete with providers such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney+.

“FIFA 23” has the most popular football teams

Gamers will also get to play with AFC Richmond in the latest version of the long-running soccer video game “FIFA,” which will be released on September 30. This fictional team is managed by Ted Lasso in the series. AFC Redmond’s Nelson Road stadium also appears in the game for PC and consoles. Other characters from the series will appear in the game, including Roy Kent, the big-mouthed football player played by Brett Goldstein. “It’s great to be at FIFA,” Goldstein said in a statement.

“FIFA 23” has the most popular soccer teams in the world thanks to the licenses with the English Premier League, German Bundesliga and other leagues.
